Keeping Cool in July

It’s hard to believe it’s July and we’ve only seen a couple of days over 90 degrees in Big D. That’s thanks to the constant rain. Hey, I’m not complaining! Anything to keep cool and save my sprinklers!

We had our latest appointment last Tuesday. Everybody measured beautifully – Baby A is up to 14 ounces and Baby B weighed in at 13 ounces. That’s almost two whole pounds of baby! Mom weighed in quite nicely too – thanks to a hearty appetite! I have been free from nausea and the medication for a little over three weeks now. Twins are carried a few inches higher than singletons, so my new “symptom” is a need to stop and catch my breath frequently.

Right now the babies are positioned in a yin and yang pose with Baby B’s head under my ribs on my right side and Baby A’s feet under my ribs on my left side. I’ve been feeling them move around a little each day. The doctor tells me I’ll be able to tell which one is doing the kicking in the next few weeks.

Brian was just sure he caught a peek at Baby A’s gender, but the sonogram tech assured him that Baby A was in the fig leaf pose with a tiny hand keeping the secret. Brian was not convinced and spent the rest of the afternoon worried that the BIG secret was half ruined. I think he’ll keep his eyes on the floor next time!

Over the next two weeks I’ll be taking my final trips before travel restrictions begin. I’m a little relieved to be done with some of my work travel, but wishing I could sneak in more trips to see family. I know better though, and I’ll keep doing everything I can to grow two healthy babies and stay off bedrest.

I’ve posted another set of pics on the Modeling Shots page. They look a little more like aliens than babies, but the sono girl was trying to get their faces from the front this time.

All in all we got a great report from the doc and everybody is feeling much better. We’ll try to keep this new page updated as we start on the nursery and other fun projects! Time is flying!!

Next appointment: August 3

20 Fingers and 20 Toes

We had an appointment last week with the “big” ultrasound. This is the one that measures all of the organs and identifies gender. Both babies looked great with perfect measurements. The sonogram tech knows the gender, but she is the only person on earth who does. She will soon be going into the witness protection program. I know several people who are contemplating offering bribes for
this valuable information. Brian and I saw all the fingers and toes, and that was all we cared about. Healthy, happy babies. Looks like we have two growing strong. Baby A is 7 ounces and Baby B is 6 ounces.

As for me, I still have sick days and not-as-sick days. I’m finally packing on the pounds and enjoying not feeling guilty about getting a plumper middle. The doc says I’m doing well and gave me and Baby A and Baby B a good report. We’re all set until our next check up on July 3.

As always, thank you for the continued prayers and support! It’s so nice to know we’re surrounded by so much love!

May Flowers

Many thanks for your happy thoughts and prayers over the last several weeks! We finally crossed into the second trimester and our sonogram pics are looking more human than fish-like. While I am lucky enough to get a sonogram on each visit, we’ve decided to be surprised about the babies’ gender(s) so we can’t risk sneaking any more peeks. It will be hard not to look, but I keep reminding myself that soon I will get to see them everyday!

My lovely pukeyness has not quite left. The doc has given me week 16 as a new target (I’m at 13 now). Just another unique trait of a twin pregnancy. I am eating more than before, but I am still relying on anti-nausea meds from the doc.

We feel incredibly blessed to be on this adventure and appreciate all of your continued support and prayers!

Good News Times Two

Just a quick note to tell you that Brian and I have finally been blessed with the opportunity to be parents! And we’ve been doubly blessed with TWINS who are expected to arrive in November!

It’s an exciting time in the Bentley house, and a little scary too – but way more exciting. I have been very sick lately and hope that passes soon. It’s just part of the process we’ve wanted to be a part of for so long. Our last ultrasound showed some very active babies with wonderfully strong heartbeats. A true miracle!

We would appreciate your prayers as our family size doubles (well, technically with the pups we’re already a family of four). We will
be keeping you posted along the way!
