We Hear It Was For Our Own Good, but OUCH!

This week we had our two-month check up with the baby doctor man. He seems like a nice man, but we don’t really want to go there unless we have to. The nice nurse ladies weighed and measured us first. Mason tipped the scales at 11lbs 5ozs and stretched to 23.5 inches long. Morgan weighed in at 10lbs 5ozs and measured all the way to 23 inches. Mom and Dad were happy to learn we are growing so well. Our weight is average for babies our age and we’re a little longer than the average baby. That’s probably because Mom and Dad are a lot longer than the average Mom and Dad.

The baby doctor man gave us two thumbs up after he checked all of our parts. That’s where the fun ended. The nice nurse ladies came back and played a nasty trick on us. They asked Mom and Dad to hold our arms while they poked our legs with medicine. We cried and yelled and wiggled! And then Mom cried…sometimes Mom is just a big baby. One nurse lady couldn’t even look at Mom because she was so sad. The nurse lady had to focus on Dad because he was the only brave one in the room. The medicine pokes are supposed to keep us from getting some bad sicknesses, but we still didn’t like it one bit. Mom got eight stitches later that day when she went to visit the skin doctor man, but she said our leg pokes hurt her a lot more.

We came home and took a long hard nap to try to forget all of the ugly parts of the doctor visit. Now we’re just focused on how big we’re getting. Even though we’re just over two months old, we don’t fit in some of our three month clothes. Mom has to watch tags for weight and length now and not months. We’re even fitting in some of our three to six month clothes! How’s that for overachieving?

We don’t have to go see the baby doctor man for a couple more months. We think we heard there are more pokes coming, so we’ll try to get brave before that. Hope Mom can toughen up too…

‘Twas Our Very First Christmas

Oh what fun we had! Our celebration started early with a visit from Papa Donn and Grammy a week before Christmas. They cooked yummy food for Mom and Dad and helped feed and cuddle us. We can’t wait until we can sample Papa Donn’s steaks and Grammy’s spaghetti sauce!

Right before Christmas, GiGi arrived. She couldn’t wait to see how big we grew since she was here.

Dad went shopping on Christmas Eve. It’s a tradition that he’s had since he was a kid. He told us we could maybe go with him next year. Sounds like an adventure!

We went to Uncle Jeff and Aunt Juls’ house for pizza on Christmas Eve. It was so much fun to visit Baba, Aunt Kelly, Great Grandma Hedgcoxe, and our cousins Brandon, Cam and Wes.

Our next stop was church with Mom, Dad and GiGi. We loved the pretty music and the singing that sounded like angels. We were very quiet and snuggly until Mason decided Silent Night was too silent. He yelled out a baby version of “Amen!” and Dad took him to see the lobby. Everyone at church was so friendly and told Mom and Dad how pretty and handsome we looked.

Christmas morning brought a visit from the big guy – Santa Claus! We must have been good for the first nine weeks of our lives because Santa left us some loot. We spent the afternoon napping after all of the excitement and smelling the delicious turkey dinner GiGi made. We thought it smelled SO delicious that we insisted on staying in the dining room during dinner. We felt very grown up!

We can’t wait until next Christmas when we can help open our presents and tell Mom and Dad exactly how excited we are! Mom wishes the time wouldn’t go so fast, but we keep telling her we have lots of Christmases to look forward to!

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and we wish you all the best for a Happy New Year! We’re sure to have loads of fun in 2008!

It’s Almost Here!

We’ve been hearing alot about this Christmas thing and we’re getting more excited by the minute! Packages keep appearing under the shiny tree and we’ve been wearing our special red and green outfits to show our holiday spirit. We really wish we knew how to read because we think some of those packages must be for us! We know Aunt Jena sent us something because Mom hurried and put it under the tree before we could peek. We’re also looking forward to our first trip to church. Mom tells us it’s a really quiet place with nice people. Sounds like a perfect place for babies, huh?

Next week also brings our two month check-up with the baby doctor man. Mom and Dad can’t wait to find out how big we are. Mom thinks we must weigh at least 20 pounds each based on how we chow down at bottle time. Mason has been practicing holding his head up and looking around, and Morgan loves to smile at Dad. She even giggles in her sleep sometimes.

Speaking of sleep…don’t worry, Mom and Dad still aren’t getting more than two and a half hours at a time. We have them on a pretty tough schedule. Something that IS new in the sleep department is our new digs. We moved upstairs to our own room last week. Silly Mom and Dad had a campout on the floor the first two nights, and then we heard them in the guest room the next two nights. They just can’t seem to stay away. We must just be irresistible! We still share a crib and it’s nice and warm and comfy for us. Mom and Dad are getting extra cardio running up and down the stairs to take care of us all night. It’s good for them – keeps ‘em young and fit!

Time for us to take a quick nap before one of us yells for a bottle. This time it’s Mason’s turn. He has a good set of lungs on him! Mom and Dad laugh because it sounds like he’s yelling “guy” every time he cries.

Off to see some more visions of sugar plums…

What’s a Snapfish?

We’re learning lots of new words, but Snapfish is one that has us puzzled. Mom and Dad tell us it is a Web site where our friends and family can see our pictures as a slideshow and even order copies of pictures that they just can’t live without.

Some of our biggest fans were asking Mom and Dad how to pull pictures from our Web site so they could print them off. Our Web site doesn’t work that way, so Dad came up with this super smart idea and now people can see and get the pictures they want. Of course, there are always more photo ops with us, so keep checking for new pics.

Right now, Dad has posted Oct. 23 – Dec. 15. You can see them by clicking on “Snapfish Photos” on the list on the right side of this page…see how we would be puzzled? Sounds pretty confusing to us, but we’re sure you can do it!

These last few weeks have gone by so quickly! We’re now six weeks old and growing really fast. Mason has outgrown some of his newborn sleepers and Morgan is not too far behind. We like to stay awake at night and sleep during the day, but Mom and Dad tell us that’s not how things work. So we’re trying to learn the difference between night and day, and Mom and Dad are trying to be really patient with us while they stumble through the day with very little sleep. At least we try to take turns. If Morgan is going to cry and stay awake, then Mason remembers that the next night will be his turn. We think that’s the least we could do.

Today Mom and Dad got really excited about some basketball game. It sounds like Mom’s favorite team is playing Dad’s favorite team. We got to dress up in some new clothes to show our support for the cause. Mason tinkled on his outfit early in the day and Mom thought that was very funny. We’re not sure why. Then Dad tried to convince Morgan to spit up on her outfit, but she hates changing clothes too much to try something that silly. Mom thought that was funny too. They were so excited about the game that they sent our picture to the TV station and we were on TV (you can watch the clip above). Now we have to start dodging the paparazzi for sure!

Mom and Dad have lots more pictures of us, and they should be posted soon. We’re trying not to be pushy – it makes them cranky when they don’t have enough sleep. Now we’re getting ready for something Mom and Dad call “Christmas.” Sounds like a lot of fun to us! The house has pretty sparkly lights and a colorful tree that we like to stare at, and we have stockings ready to be filled by some chubby jolly man. We haven’t met him yet, but Mom and Dad have told us all about him and his upcoming visit. We can’t wait!

It’s about time for us to pull an all-nighter – we think it might be Morgan’s turn to stay up with Mom and Dad. Lucky girl!
