This week Mom and Dad took us to see the baby doctor man for our two week check up. We don’t get out much (something about colds and flus), so it was a nice adventure.
Mason weighed in at 6lbs 14ozs and Morgan came in at 6lbs 4ozs. It’s all that yummy liquid we get every three hours! The baby doctor said babies typically gain an ounce a day and we both gained way more than that! He said we are probably going to be tall like Mom and Dad so we might gain weight a little quicker.
All of our other parts checked out well and then we had to have blood taken from our heels (ouch!!) for some other tests. That was our most unfavorite part of the visit and we let Mom and Dad know!
We are still having fun learning more about the world around us. We’re still getting up every three hours to eat, but after every meal we get a pretty good nap. Lately we’ve been staying awake a little longer to explore and listen to the world.
Mom and Dad are still talking about being sleepy, but we think they’re getting the hang of things. They seem to be learning almost as much as we are.
We’d better get back to nap time, we hear there is another feeding scheduled soon. Yummy!
We have arrived! We’ve been dying for Mom to share the news with everyone (we’re not shy), but she keeps telling us how sleepy she is. So we volunteered to take it from here!
First things first – we are Mason Aaron and Morgan Grace and we decided to make our big debut on October 23. Mom and Dad were planning on an afternoon doctor visit with an extra sneak peek at us with the tummy camera lady. Then we heard the doctor lady tell Mom some big words like hypertension and preeclampsia. We don’t know what that means, but it sounded pretty serious.
The doctor lady sent Mom and Dad to the hospital and told us to get ready for our big entrance! And boy was it a big entrance! Doctor lady called Mason “Dirk” and called Morgan “LeBron.” We were real happy when Mom and Dad changed our names! Mason came out first because he’s the big brother (6lbs 3.7ozs, 19.5 inches long at 8:53 p.m.), and Morgan came next (5lbs 10 ozs, 19 inches long at 8:54 p.m.). Boy were we ever glad to stretch our legs! It was getting pretty crowded in there!
Morgan went to a special place called the NICU for an extra check up and Dad and Mason went to the nursery to get checked out. Mom slipped into a deep sleep and waited for some yucky blood pressure medicine in an IV. The next day they took us to visit Mom so we could see who had been waiting so long to meet us! We stayed in the hospital with Mom and met some really nice nurse ladies and the baby doctor man. Everybody took really good care of us and helped us get used to the world.
We’re home now and love all of the fun stuff we have to wear and play in. We aren’t real sure we like bath time yet. Being naked is not our favorite thing. We’re also getting lots of visitors and meeting some special friends and family. We see now what Mom and Dad meant when they told us everybody has been waiting so long to meet us.
Our first nine days have been pretty cool! We eat and sleep most of the time and Mom and Dad stare at us alot. Mom keeps telling us how lucky we are to have so much help at home and we believe her. It seems like people are standing in line just to snuggle us.
We went to see the baby doctor man today and he told Mom and Dad that we are doing really good at gaining weight. He’s going to check us out again next week to see how much we’ve grown. We have hearty appetites, so we’re not worried!
Well…we’d better take a quick nap before our next feeding. Dad posted lots of pictures on the new “pictures” tab at the top of this page. Please visit often! With all the flashes we’ve seen lately, we’re sure this will be updated soon!
