These M&Ms Melt in Your Heart

November 1st, 2008 by Melinda

October brought cooler weather, our first birthday and our second Halloween! What fun all the way around! This year we dressed up as two of the flavors of M&M candies…with nuts and without nuts.

Morgan decided she was ready to crawl about one week before our first birthday and she hasn’t stopped moving since. Some of our new toys help us stand up and take a few steps. Watch out Mom, Dad, Lola and Rocky - here we come!

Mason likes to say “uh oh” alot. Sometimes he means it, sometimes he just likes to hear his sweet little voice.

This month we also visited a local pumpkin patch where some of the pumpkins were bigger than us! Morgan let Mom put a bow on her head for about 20 minutes. That is a small victory for Mom!

We’ve been hearing alot of “last year at this time…” talk around here. We guess Mom and Dad have been thinking back to when we were just 1/4 of the size we are now and how much work it was to keep us awake long enough to finish a bottle. Now they have a hard time getting us to go to sleep - go figure!

Exactly one year ago today we wrote our first Bentley Twinfo post to introduce ourselves and show all of you pictures of our grand entrance into this great big world. Thanks for keeping up with us throughout this crazy year! Now that we’re moving and grooving we’re sure there is much more entertainment to come!

What a One-derful Year!

October 29th, 2008 by Melinda

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

Yay! We celebrated our first birthday on Oct. 23. Mom and Dad threw a little party together with some of our family members. We had our first taste of cake with Mom and Dad on our actual birthday and then a second shot at our big party for all of the spectators to enjoy! Check out the birthday pictures on Snapfish using the link to the right. We saw so many flashbulbs that day! Thank you to Aunt Kelly Bentley and Aunt Kelly Harrelson for working as paparazzi for the big day! Dad also put together a sweet video that showed a little glimpse of all the growing we’ve done during our first year. Check it out above…

The baby doctor man took a look at us too and we passed all of his tests with flying colors! Mason is 31.5 inches long, and Morgan is just an inch shorter at 30.5. Mason weighed in at 23 lbs 13 ozs, and Morgan was 21 lbs and 4 ozs.

We feel so lucky to have so much love around us! We’re looking forward to many more parties to come! We’re not sure Mom will let us have any more frosting though…

Cooler Weather + A Wagon + Fresh Air = 2 Happy Babies!

October 3rd, 2008 by Melinda

Mom and Dad are thankful that the weather is cooling off so we can get outside and use up some of our energy. We’ve been going on wagon rides every night before our baths. We’ve made friends with lots of neighbors and puppies. Mason spends some of the ride hanging over the side trying to figure out how to take the wagon apart (Dad calls him a “ninjaneer”), and Morgan likes to hang her feet over the side and chill out. Not very ladylike, but cute nonetheless.

Mason is considered a flight risk 24/7. He is fast and he knows it. His favorite route is from the nursery to our baby bathroom to get a rubber ducky. He likes to stand up every chance he gets. His walking days are right around the corner.

Morgan has decided that she would rather stand up than crawl. She’s not quite sure where she wants to go when she gets on her feet, but she knows she’d rather be up than on her bottom. She still “yells” at Mason when he even looks like he might be thinking about touching her.

The other night during dinner, Mason said Mama and pointed to Mom. When Mom tried to get Mason to say it again when Dad was in the room, Mason looked right at her and said “dum dum.” Dad really thought that was funny. Mom thinks we might need to work on learning names.

We like to point at each other and laugh. It’s our own private joke that Mom and Dad don’t quite get, but it makes them giggle too. We’ve been baby food free for the whole month and we’re loving the new things we get to try.

Rumor has it that we’re having a birthday in a few weeks. Wow! My how time flies when you’re learning how to be a baby human. We’re looking forward to facing the front of the car, trying milk, and doing all the other cool things we’ll get to do. We don’t know what those things are, but we’re sure they’ll be cool.

The next time you hear from us, we’ll be 1!

All Big Decisions Are Made at the Twintagon

September 6th, 2008 by Melinda

The Twintagon is our new hangout. It’s actually six-sided, but you should know we couldn’t think of a clever six-sided name. We’re only 10 1/2 months old after all. So anyway, the Twintagon is where we go to fine tune our plans for world domination. Mom and Dad think they are keeping us captive in there, but they are really just giving us the space we need! The Twintagon arrived soon after Mason figured out how to climb over the pillow walls they built to hold us in one spot.

Mason climbs over pillows, over toys and over Morgan. Morgan is not too happy when he bulldozes over her, and sometimes she growls at him. He’s standing up more and more and will one day soon be running to the curb to check the mail. Morgan has started scooting a bit. She’s still not into getting her knees red or her feet dirty. She likes to scoot on her booty and stand on Mom’s lap. What a princess!

This month, Mom, Dad, Uncle Tom and Aunt Kelly took us to the park on an unusually cool summer afternoon. The swings were so fun! We kicked and kicked our legs and laughed the whole time. We can’t wait for cooler weather so we can fly some more!

We think we finally convinced Mom and Dad to stop feeding us baby slop. Now we eat grilled cheese, pickles, turkey, chicken, toast, cheerios, cheese quesadillas, lots of fruit, green beans, carrots, and (much to Dad’s disgust) tomatoes. And the list keeps growing. Yummy!

We had a big day running errands with Mom and Dad. It’s time to call it a night and let all four of us get a little rest before another FULL day.

Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!

August 12th, 2008 by Melinda

So this is what our first Texas summer feels like. Yuck! We’ve been trying to do all of our public appearances before noon so we don’t wilt. That leaves lots of afternoon time in the air conditioning to play with Mom and Dad. Mason has decided to start exploring the house using his Army crawl skills that he must have picked up in baby basic training. Morgan watches from the sidelines and tries to figure out how to skip all of that crawling stuff and just get Mason to fetch for her. So far, so good.

We went to visit the baby doctor man for our nine month check up. Yet again we aced all of our tests (that staying up all night to study really helps). Mason is a monstrous 21 lbs 8 ozs and 29 inches long, while little lady Morgan isn’t far behind at 19 lbs 13 ozs and 28.25 inches long. We both have some new top teeth which help us try the new foods Mom and Dad are sneaking in. Just the other day, Morgan tried her first dill pickle. Mmmm! Those new teeth also mean we get a little (ok, alot) crabby at night and yell for Mom and Dad to come and check on us pretty frequently.

We’re learning how to wave hello, goodbye and just for the heck of it. Mason is practicing his Taco Bell order by saying what sounds alot like “Taco, Taco, Taco.” Won’t be long before Morgan surely chimes in with “Queso, Queso, Queso.”

Stay tuned as our baby bellies, appetites and vocabularies are sure to grow!
